FG, World Bank partner to launch platform supporting SMEs

The Federal Government in partnership with the World Bank launched the Business Innovation and growth (BIG) initiative to help support micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

The Business Innovation and growth (BIG) initiative is an online platform which allows business owners gain access to finance in a bid to create valuable business plans. The portal which opened on February 9, 2016 is giving out financial grants and access to its resources for interested business persons.

Applicants can sign-in with a username and a password on the portal to provide required information in the registration form. Businesses that are deemed successful will be invited to attend an initial induction workshop within their location.

The BIG team will also undertake a needs assessment practice for the businesses in order to provide services tailored to meet these needs. Successful applicants will have access to a wide range of BIG Services including; Consulting, Training and Grants.

The platform which is funded by the World Bank provides premier business growth offerings; it includes the opportunity to form a team, create a business plan, and potentially fund their business idea all within six months. Business people who wish to register for the 2016 grant may do so at www.bigportal.org.ng

The following sectors would be given preference; Information Communication Technology, Light Manufacturing (Agri-Business and Industrial Processing), Hospitality and Tourism, Construction and Real Estate or activities related to one of these Sectors.
